Rod and Mel Berger started their love affair with bulldogs, when they bought 2 pet quality female bulldogs. After raising 2 litters of puppies and realizing how hard it is to raise Bulldog puppies. They decided it is just as easy to raise really good quality puppies as it is to raise pets. That's when their show career started. They purchased a puppy from their mentor C. D. Richardson.

Mel is a AKC judge. Rod and Mel are charter members of the Oklahoma City Bulldog Club. They are in the Bulldog Club of America and are in the Breeders Hall of Fame.
